I'm tired of the New York Yankees

I'm no Red Sox fan, not by a long shot. But something happened in the wake of them winning their 2 World Series in 89 years. Somehow, some way, the freakin New York Yankees took the spotlight away. On Tuesday, the morning after Boston won, they were the THIRD STORY on Sportscenter , behind 1) Alex Rodriguez opting out, and 2) Joe FREAKIN Girardi!. I couldn't believe it. Everyone knows that there is a New York sports bias in sports media, but ESPN went out of their way to rub it in every one's face this week. Don't get me wrong A-Rod leaving is newsworthy, Joe Torre being replaced is newsworthy, but the rebuilding of the Yankees is not above the World Series. Sometimes I wish Espn didn't have such a monopoly on television sports, because contrary to what they believe inside the Bristol Studios, not everyone likes the Yankees, in fact, some people (me) can't stand the Yankees.

BAH!

In other news, Happy Halloween.

Is that really the best you can do.....

The closer we get to the 08' election, the more we will be forced to hear how much the candidates hate each other. How many atrocities they are responsible for, how many shady campaign contributors they have, or how many pot holes they have filled with the remains of 9/11 victims (look it up). The list could go on forever. However, the attacks on Barack Obama crack me up. Mainly because the guy has a relatively squeaky clean record, and the right is having a hard time digging stuff up on him. Up until this point you only heard the dumbest of the dumb in this country make comments about his name or his race. But last week took the cake.

He is now a bad candidate and doesn't support the troops because he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin.

A lapel pin. A freakin American flag lapel pin! What does this guy have to do to get respect. Start a war based on false information then slowly rip the constitution to shreds as he laughs all the way to the bank. What? That ones been taken already?

When asked to defend himself, which he did after he stopped laughing. This is what he said:

“My attitude is that I’m less concerned about what you’re wearing on your lapel than what’s in your heart. You show your patriotism by how you treat your fellow Americans, especially those who serve. You show your patriotism by being true to our values and ideals. That’s what we have to lead with is our values and our ideals.”
(from http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21138728/)

Obama could have easily laid into the media that attacked him, but instead he kept his cool and gave an honest and true answer. A response that Fox News still found unpatriotic. An irony that falls no further than their lack of comment on the whole Rush Limbaugh situation, or the fact that Larry Craig loves American flag lapel pins. Which obviously means that people with pins on their jackets, while supporting the troops, also simultaneously support elicit gay bathroom sex. That is of course if you use the same twisted logic that many in the news media subscribe to.

Me on the other hand. I think I'll stick to the logical arguments of the candidates. You know, the whole representing the values of the American people thing. I doubt a Marine in Falluja really cares about which candidate has a flag on his suit. I imagine he cares a little bit more about his family and his home, and the fact that he he/she has been sitting in the desert 6 months longer than they should be.

Check out Larry Craig's lapel.
