Girl! You Crazy!!!

If you watch TV, read the news, or breathe air, then you without a doubt know the dynamics of the 2008 democratic "Race to the White House". In the beginning, Hillary Clinton was a shoe-in to be the nominee, but over time the charismatic, super-awesome, cooler-than-a-polar bears-toenails Barack Obama started doing his thing. Unfortunately for Hillary, Barack's "thing" just so happens to be "destroying Hillary Clinton". As the margin between Hillary and Barack grows, so do the wild antics of our former First Lady.

Last week she gave the award winning masterpiece called "Shame on you Barack". A gripping tale of a shameful political mailer filled with hurtful quotes. Before that was the epic saga of "Barack Obama's Plagiarism", only to find out it he was actually paying tribute to one of his political mentors.

For the most part, all of the complaints that Hilary has made have been relatively harmless and nothing to complain about. Then I read this today (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23408698/) . This pissed me off.

Hillary complained that Barack was dipping into Karl Rove's playbook, yet Hillary seems to be the best one at applying Rove's tactics. Changing the rules of an election because your afraid you're going to lose is not only corrupt, whiny, and just plain wrong. It's also a throwback to the crap we've had to deal with for the last seven years. Changing laws that you don't like is the George Bush style of working that we need to get away from, not embrace. So Hillary, I only have one thing to say to you.

Girl!!!!!!(snaps fingers). You crazy!

Lost: The Economist

Once again, I'm a week late on my Lost review. As much as would love to devote all of my writing to Lost, I've written way too much for school in the past week to make writing fun. Thankfully, that feeling wore off fast.

Quick Thoughts:

-Sayid is super bad-ass.
-The island is 31 minutes behind the outside world. What that means for the future of the show is massive.
-I'm beginning to think that Ben might not necessarily be "bad". Sure, Sayid is working for him under duress, but the enemy that Sayid is going after might be a mutal one.
-The freighties are a very strong group of characters.
- Didn't see the Hurley turn coming. It's weird to see the core group of Losties start to fracture. I'm even more surprised it didn't happen sooner.
- " N. I'll be with you Always. R.G". Who is R.G., and why is Sayid so enamored with Naomi's bracelet.

Some of the biggest moments in this episode were some of the most subtle. Daniel's expiriment has far-reaching effects on the origin on the island, and Hurley's turn might have something to do with why he apologized to Jack in the first episode for not going with him. It's also very interesting to see the further decline of Jack's authority over the group, as Sayid straight told him that his strategies are terrible. Then of course there was the moment where Sayid and Desmond left the island, becoming the first castaways to seemingly get off (except for Michael). It was a pretty cool moment.

Tonight's episode is Kate-Centric and it's called "Eggtown". With that, plus the debate on tonight, it should be a good night of television. Check check it.

Vote or Die!!! or Live, or nothing!

Barack and Hillary are squaring off tonight on CNN. Should be interesting to see how Hillary reacts to her massive losing streak, and also how both respond to John McCain's questionable dealings with a certain hot lobbyist.

Tune in.... 8:00 p.m.

Lost: Confirmed Dead

Quick, super week-late review from me. Confirmed Dead was an example of a great way to introduce new characters on the show. Miles, Charlotte, Lapidus, and Daniel seem like they are going to be solid, and especially, help give some answers about what the island is, and what it can do. Matthew Abbadon said, in Naomi's one and only flashback, that everyone was selected for a specific reason. Those reasons where alluded to in each character's flashback, and I hope the freighties have one more episode before the season ends.I want to know more. Charlotte and Faraday have the most potential because they have scientific interests in the island. Daniel is a physicist, and Charlotte is an anthropoligist with a weird fettish for Dharma polar bear collars. When she landed on the island, Charlotte seemed very happy to be there.

The exchanges between Sawyer, Ben and Locke were well written, and Locke's description of his meeting with Walt was a lot more blunt then I thought it would be. With the show coming to an end fairly soon, the time to be cryptic is over. It's answer time now, and this episode was a very good way to set the stage for these pivotal characters..

Tonight's episode is titled "The Economist" and it's Sayid-Centric. I'll be watching this bad boy on DVR though, because apparently, watching Lost on Valentine's day isn't everyones idea of a good time.

Blasphemy!

Clemens and Government Conspiracy. T/F

I just read a pretty interesting article on Si.com that quotes Brian McNamee's lawyer giving his reasons why he thinks Roger Clemens is sticking to his story. He stated that "It's my belief they have some reason to believe they can get a pardon".

Whaa.....!?

Apparently Roger Clemens is good friends with George H.W Bush (he's an Astros fan), and one of the last acts of Ol' Jr's presidency might be to pardon his Dad's good buddy. If that's indeed the case, then Roger Clemens can say whatever he wants in a court of law, and even if he is found guilty on perjury charges, he will get off scott free.

I'm not going to say right away that I believe this, mainly because I'm a huge baseball fan, and I still want to believe that Clemens is telling the truth. I'm also not going to say it couldn't be true. The way Clemens questioning was split down party lines supports the lawyers theory, Republicans where soft on him, Democrats asked him tough questions, Republicans were hard on McNamee, Democrats defended him. Why is that? Is it coincidence, or is it a microcosm for how low this administration has gone. They mess up the country, and now, don't even care if they get it cleaned up before they move out. Instead our government is focused on drugs in professional sports, while they put band-aids on everything else. November can't come fast enough.

What I'm really hoping is that this case goes away before it gets to that. There are much more pressing issues that the branches of our government could be focusing on. Unless your going to arrest atheletes on past drug use (which they can't), then leave professional sports issues in the fans and players jurisdiction.

Lost: Beginning of the End

If you know me, then you now my love for Lost is borderline obsessive. So it's safe to say that I was absolutely geeking out about the return of my beloved show. The Season 3 finale was one of the greatest television finales of all time, and I was very worried that the premiere wouldn't live up to the hype. Thankfully, it accomplished that and maybe a bit more.

Normally Lost premieres start off by completely changing the way you look at the show within the first few minutes. This wasn't the case this time around, as this premiere picked up right where Season 3 left off, only this time with a Hurley flash-forward, and the introduction of the "Oceanic 6". Future Hurley signals a very different direction for his character that I'm glad to see. For three seasons, Hurley was mainly comic relief, and now he's in a much darker place due to the circumstances that Hurley, Kate, Jack and three others were able to get off of the island under. Just like Jack's flash-forward proved, escaping the island has done nothing less than ruin the lives of those who have escaped. Hurley's visions of Charlie, along with the visit from Matthew Abbaddon, are the beginnings of a much deeper storyline that will explain why only 6 people made it off of the island, and why they are keeping certain facts secret.

The on-island arc during this episode was a good stage-setter for the rest of the season, with the survivors splitting between Camp Locke and Camp Jack. Jack's side trusts that the people on the freighter are there to rescue them, and Locke's side is following the warnings of Charlie and Ben, who say the people on the freighter aren't who they say they are. These scenes were very well done, and were high on the nostalgia scale, as the back drop was the front of Oceanic 815. Watching everyone react to Charlie's death, and at the same time the semi-fall of Jack as the central leader of the group were pivotal scenes. I'm also very intruiged by Hurley's statement to Jack that he wishes that he had followed him to begin with. Makes you wonder. Then there is the sequence involving Hurley and Jacob's cabin. Hurley gets lost and stumbles upon Jacob's crib. When he looks inside he sees a shadowy figure that is none other than Jack's Dad, Christian. Whether or not that is really Christian Shepard or not is yet to be seen, as the island has been know to play mind games with people in the past.

I do have some small complaints about this episode. There were a couple of scenes that were very high in the corn department. The biggest perpetrator being the small little exchange between Rose, Sun, and Claire. I will forever fast forward through that scene as it was some of the worst acting this show has ever witnessed. The other was the character cross between Ana-Lucia's old partner and Hurley. It was out of place and unnecessary. Not so much the fact that he was the detective, but more so that he thought Ana-Lucia was beautiful. It made me think he never had watched the show.

In the end, this was a very solid way to start what could be a very short Season 4. Hurley has been established as a much more diverse character with a bigger role to play, and the split between Jack and Locke should provide some good television. Then there is the "Jacob" element, and who knows what road that might take us down.

This weeks episode is called "Confirmed Dead" and should shine some light on who the freighter folk really are. There is also a rumor that Lost has resumed filming despite the writer's strike not being resolved. If that's the case, then we might get semi-closure to Season 4. Here's hoping.

Sweetacular

Patriots Lose. Thank You God. Seriously. Thank You.

Feb 2, 2008

You seriously couldn't find anything better to investigate.

Now I hate the Patriots just as much as you do, or at least as much as you should. There is nothing I want more than for them to go down in a blaze of despair and dissapointment on Sunday. I also agree that "spygate" was swept under the rug a little to quickly. That being said, I do not think spygate is a matter of national security.

Pennsylvania Senator Arlen "Big Daddy" Spector for some reason thinks, that despite there being a war going on, despite the fact we are about to enter a recession, despite the fact that there are about a million things that go on in this world that REALLY matter, that congress needs to investigate why the NFL destroyed the spygate tapes. Seriously.

What's so funny to me is that there was something similar to this that happened in Washington, yet they continue to this day to drg their feet on the matter. That of course being the destruction of the CIA tapes of interogations using waterboarding at Guantanamo. Now there are some tapes that people would like to have answers from.

Yes the Patriots cheated. Yes they got off easy, and yes, mainstream sports media (I'm looking at you ESPN) act like it doesn't matter. But there are much more important matters for our tax dollars to be spent on. Congress spends way too much time worrying about the sports world, and not nearly enough on the real world.
